Fremont, CA, November 26, 2024: Golden Altos is proud to share that David, one of our engineers, recently participated as a judge at Ohlone College’s “Shark Tank & Showcase: Engineering Innovation for Social Justice.” This inspiring event highlighted the ingenuity and passion of engineering students as they tackled global challenges through innovative solutions.
The student teams presented projects addressing critical issues tied to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Their work highlighted a combination of technical skill, creativity, and a commitment to social impact. The showcased projects included:
- Micro-tricity: A renewable energy solution using microbial fuel cells to generate electricity from biomass.
- AeroPower-A: A wind-powered system designed to improve HVAC efficiency and reduce urban greenhouse gas emissions.
- Green Fridge Innovations: An off-grid refrigeration system to preserve medicines and critical supplies in disaster scenarios.
- HydroVoltX: A hydrogenerator converting kinetic energy from washing machine wastewater into electricity.
- Bring Balance to the Ocean: A project focusing on combating ocean acidification and restoring marine habitats.
David was part of a panel of five industry judges tasked with evaluating and ranking the projects. Reflecting on his experience, he shared, “Through this four-hour-long event, I had the chance to network with other judges from various engineering industries, connect with the students eager to know about life and a career as an engineer, network with the education professionals, and learn about the school’s engineering program. It is a great event to bridge the education and the industry. Also, it is a great way to introduce GAC to the next generation. It was an enjoyable and inspiring event.”
